There may not be goblins and ghouls at the dinner table, but who invited them anyway.  Cire Trudon's Napoleon bust candle as part of the table's centrepiece has a ghostly vibe, while the Melody Rose gold-rimmed plate featuring an eerie image of a naked couple sets the right tone for a Halloween inspired tablescape.  Plus, the edgy Juliska urn and Kelly Wearstler vase adds a touch of gothic studded glamour.  Add a few small gilded pumpkins to the centrepiece to finish off the look, and you've got yourself a dark and fabulous Hallows' Eve tablescape!

I was flipping through Kelly Wearstler's interior design book Hue, when I spotted some seriously gorgeous dinnerware. Turns out - it's Kelly's very own collection for Pickard China.  Now, if I didn't eat dinner in front of the TV every night and if I could afford a 5 piece setting worth a cool $450, then I'd totally own a place setting for one. And if I won the lottery - I'd splurge on a second place setting so I could have a friend over for dinner. Until then it's just me and my chosen guest living the humble life snacking on my couch while most likely watching The Bachelor.  And I'm ok with that!

Lately I'm all about warm, rose-tone neutrals. When I'm shopping I gravitate toward them like a cruise missile and of course, as any girly girl would do, I imagine how my wedding would look styled in rose, truffle, and shimmery gold tones.  My inspiration for this post is threefold: The Denby® Truffle Collection, Valentino's Bow Couture Peep Toe Pumps, and The Sunglass Hut ad campaign featuring Style Director, Rachel Bilson wearing a pink bridesmaid-worthy dress. I suppose you think I should find a suitor before I start ranting about 'my wedding'. Bah! Minor detail!

Well Wishes Dishes

My friend is getting married this May, and while visiting her last weekend I flipped through her Martha Stewart Weddings Spring 2010 magazine and paused on page 53 to admire this plate wall.  I later purchased my own copy of this issue, and hoped that the cute guy standing next to me at the newsstand didn't mistake me for a bride-to-be.  I LOVE Martha Stewart Weddings; the mag is always loaded with unforgettable 'good things' like this signature plate wall.  Having guests write on white plates to be later mounted on your wall is an exceptional replacement for a standard guest book.  This way, when you walk into your kitchen you'll be struck by the whimsical beauty of your decorative plates, and always be reminded of well wishes. Revolving Cupboards

I wish I had magically revolving cupboards; this way I could justify buying as many different sets of dishes as I wanted. I could change dishes according to my mood or the season and as often as I change my underwear! I know, it's ridiculous. But can you blame me? There is a ton of gorgeous dinnerware available that come in the most stunning colors and patterns. You can print just about anything on a dish (save for the dark and vulgar) and it will garner wide appeal. British/ Japanese designer Reiko Kaneko has designed the very clever 'Drip and Lip' collection. The gold accenting takes this concept from kitsch to class. L.O.V.E.

Royal Refuge

I never had an affinity for crowns or anything characteristic of royalty until they started gracing home accessories.  I love this idea because there's no better place than your home to evoke feelings of privilege and respect using a little bit of crown ornamentation.  We may not run in the same circle as monarchs, but there's nothing stopping us from using a regal aesthetic to create our own majestic quarters.  Any one of these items is just enough to remind you that there's no place more important than home!

Cool Britannia

What I know about Britain is mostly hearsay. As far as London is concerned, I am told that the chocolate is tastier, the rain is frequent, and the Underground is the longest metro system in the world. I have read that traditional fish & chips is a must eat, and Westminster Abbey is a must see. The red telephone boxes have become monuments in their own right, and of course there's Abbey Road made famous by four lads from Liverpool.

My friend and her husband are moving to London come Spring, which makes my first visit across the pond a more pertinent reality. For Christmas I gave her a basket of all things unique to London, containing Marks & Spencer tea and biscuits, Cadbury UK chocolates including the famed Curly Wurly bar, Frommer's Born to Shop London traveler's companion, and the movie Notting Hill starring Britain's own Hugh Grant. But after coming across these cool products, I wish I had more room in the basket!
