I'm coveting an antique Staffordshire porcelain spaniel; they're quirky and cute and a timeless collectable. The Staffordshire Spaniel was the quintessential Victorian bourgeois status-symbol ornament: no mantelpiece was complete without a pair of spaniels standing guard. The spaniel figurines - always produced in pairs (facing opposite directions), were attributed to royalty favouring the King Charles Spaniel breed. Staffordshire is a county in the West Midlands of England where spaniel figurines originated and have been produced since the 1700s.
(Wiki) Antiques and dogs are two of my greatest loves, so a Staffordshire spaniel is a must-have for my home.
